Full Description
[1] Document entitled ‘Secret. Subject: Security Measures Road Blocks’ sent to Headquarters 40th A.A. Brigade from Commander of 1/6th Bn. The Essex Regiment (64th Searchlight Regt.) at Wallington Hall, Kings Lynn 19.5.1940. Details sites chosen for roadblocks and materials to be used. Five HQ addresses identified including: ‘443 Coy. H.Q., Thrapston. 217 Coy Area. Two sites, MGRs as above both on A604 east of Thrapston. Material to be used: ‘Railway sleepers & rocks'’ No of personnel to guard blocks: ‘4, 1 armed’. ‘All metrail to be used in the construction of fixed road blocks is obtainable locally and within fairly easy reach of the proposed sites.
