Full Description
{1} Documentary reference to Searchlight battery. Appendix of War Diary details location of every Search Light in their area (N of Grantham to E coast) due to a change in the system of numbering in 1942. Prefixes of old numbers make it possible to cross reference them to location statements. King Cliffe old number WT.094 (ie 362 Bty, 41 S/L Regt.); new number 265 (grid ref. TL0004 9671).
{2} The modern NGR is identified, converted from MGR (military grid reference) as being SP 9997 9668. This lies c90m SW of the previous NGR notified by A. Armishaw for this site. Note that the Search Light is not readily identifiable on 1947 vertical RAF aerial photographs and may be located "on the higher ground a few hundred meters to the east".
<1> Armishaw A., 2001, Letter, (unchecked) (Letter). SNN101842.
<2> Cadman, G., 2003, Three Reports on Search Light Battery Sites, (unchecked) (SMR Report Form). SNN103229.
