Full Description
{1} The first site relates to finds from the garden of No 93 Hayway Rushden where it backs on to the Rushden School. Whilst gardening I have often found pot sherds in the top soil. Earlier in the year I dug a pit in which I found a quantity of pot sherds and animal bones mostly from a dark organic layer some 30cms thick upon the natural geology just over 1m deep. I passed the finds on to a colleague who showed them to the secretary of the local archeological society. The pots were dated to late 2nd/3rd century, and some were identified as grey Nene valley ware.
