Full Description

{1} In the centre of the line of new railway at Glendon, railway navvies found an ancient well with four feet of black mud in it. In the mud they found Roman pottery pieces, one marked with 'Co M' in well defined characters…It was evidently from a mould and not thrown on a wheel. There were also some human skeletal remains in the well. A few furlongs away is an extensive tumulus.
