Summary

Stoke Gap Lodge Farm, Stoke Bruerne. Model farm c. 1840 part of Lord Grafton's (4th) estate.Model farms were architect-designed farmsteads inspired by the ideals of Enlightenment that combined utility with architectural beauty.

Full Description

Range of farm buildings, including granary and barn. c.1840. Coursed squared limestone, hipped slate roofs. U plan. 3-bay, 1-storey-and-loft granary at end of left return wing has 5-bay cart-standing open on posts to yard; wall above standing of red brick. Barn with double opposed doors at inner end of right return wing. Other ranges single-storey with long shelter shed range facing house open to yard on segmental-arched brick arcading. Part of a model farm complex.
