Full Description

{1} House. Said to have been built c.1904 for Walter Long, Speaker of the House of Commons. Brick, old tile roof, brick stacks. L-plan. Queen Anne Style. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Garden entrance in second bay from right has moulded wood frame, half-glazed door and arched and timber hood. 2-storey canted bay to right with sash windows, similar bay to left of entrance and in left bay. Sash window above entrance, and sash windows on both floors in second bay from left. Windows have moulded brick hoods and cut brick aprons. Modillion cornice. Main entrance on right side which has two bracketed gables. Doorway in large moulded brick arch has 15-panel door. 2 sash windows on first floor. Interior: Staircase with turned balusters. Oak panelled doors.
