Full Description

{1} House, now hotel. Early C18. Limestone ashlar and coursed limestone rubble; thatch roof, stone stacks. Main range in centre. 2 storeys and attic. 4 bays, flanked by lower storey extensions, also C18, of one bay to left and two bays to right. Entrance to main range, in second bay from left, has keystoned lintel and plank door. 3-light windows on either side with keystoned lintels and old iron casement, 3- and 2-light casement windows under continuous wooden lintel in right bay and second bay from right. 3-light casement window with wood lintel in right bay on first floor. 3-light casement windows with keystoned lintels in second bay from right and in left bay. Long window running through mezzanine and first floor in second bay from left. Dormer has old iron casement. Coped gable ends with kneelers. Extension to right has 3-light windows with wood lintels and old iron casements on both floors. Extension to left, has two 2-light casement windows with wood lintels on ground floor and similar 3-light window on first floor. Interior not inspected. Noted as having been built c.1700 by John Hodges. (H. Clifford-Smith, Sulgrave Manor and the Washingtons, 1933, p.174).
