Full Description

{1} School, now house. Built 1789 for Lady Merial D'Anvers. Ironstone ashlar, slate roof, flanking stone stacks. 2 storeys and attic, 4 bays. Central doorway with stone lintel and 4-panel part-glazed door with overlight. Two sash windows with side lights and stone lintels on either side. 3-light windows on first floor with stone lintels, old iron casements and leaded panes. Coped gable ends with kneelers. Octagonal timber bell turret with cupola and weather vane in centre of roof. Interior not inspected. Noted by D. Knowles as having a stone on the west gable marked' H. Ward, 1789' presumably the builder. This stone is not now visible. (Donald Knowles, 'A Village School', Bracknell, 1978).
