Summary

In December 1966 the site of a probable Roman pottery kiln was revealed as well as areas with Roman pottery and pieces of reddish burnt clay with grass impressions. Worked flints were also found in the field.

Full Description

{1} SP731643. A.Miller, December 1966. The site of a probable Roman pottery kiln was revealed as areas with Roman pottery and pieces of reddish burnt clay with grass impressions. Worked flints were also found in the field.

{2} Area of SP731643. Several patches yielding Roman pottery and pieces of reddish burnt clay with grass imporessions. Possible kiln site, near a spring. Worked flints were also found.

{3} Fieldwalking; undertaken in December 1966; Roman pot sherds, kiln fabric and prehistoric flints were found. Indicated a probable pottery kiln site; found by A. Miller.

{4} Site as in authority {1} confirmed by R Hollowell. Pottery now in Northampton Museum. Hollowell holds flints (scrapers and a slug knife).
