Full Description

{1} Cross. Medieval. Limestone. Square base and approximately one metre of octagonal shaft. Badly weathered. Former roadside cross, moved here from Rowler Road.

{2} Part of the column of the wayside cross which stood on the road to Hinton in the Hedges is in the Rectory garden in Croughton.

{3} A socket stone holding the remains of a shaft is situated in an ornamental garden at SP 54553358. The very eroded shaft now has a max height of 1.1m.

{8} See photograph. No change to report of 13 2 70. The Rector states that the house may be sold at some future date and the remains of the cross would then be removed to the churchyard. The very eroded
shaft now has a max height of 1.1m. Survey transferred to 1:2500 MSD.
