Full Description

{1} Rectory. C17, remodelled early C19. Squared coursed limestone and ashlar, slate roof, brick stacks. 2 storeys and attic, 4 bays. Doorway in second bay from right has stone architrave with Tuscan pilasters and straight moulded entablature. C19 half-glazed double doors. Sash window with plain stone surround to right. 3 similar windows, irregularly spaced, to left. Sash windows on first floor with wood lintels. C20 dormer. Irregular 2-storey extension to right of uncoursed rubble with slate roof. Windows with wood lintel moulded wooden mullions and leaded panes (partly obscured at time of resurvey). Interior: Early C19 staircase, the ends of the treads carved with scrolls. Marble fireplaces with fluted Grecian decoration. Roof probably C17 has chamfered tie beams and purlins. The Rectory is shown on a map of Aynho dated 1696 by James Fish of Warwick. It had a triple gabled front and extension to right and left, part of which remain. In the early C19 the gables were removed, the front remodelled and extensions built at the rear.

{3} Measured drawings of what is thought to be a 17th century vicarge/rectory. Submitted as part of an application for listed building consent.
