Full Description

Former rectory, now house. Built 1833 by George Gilbert Scott for his father. Red brick, hipped slate roof, brick lateral stacks. Double-depth plan. 2-storey, 3-window range. Central 8-panel door with overlight panelled reveals, flanked by fluted half pillars, supporting frieze and cornice with recent enrichments. 12-pane sash windows throughout with gauged brick lintels and painted stone sills. Lower 2-storey one-window range to left. Interior not inspected. (Buildings of England: Northamptons

{4} The Old Rectory was built by Sir George Gilbert Scott for his father the Rev Thomas Scott. It was the first house built by Scott while he was still an apprentice and he recorded that he found the design in a drawer of the architect he was assisting. The rectory is built of red brick and slate.
