{3} Analysis & plan. Internally, the front door opens to a cross passage, with an early 18th century oak back door, which now leads to the added kitchen area. Backing onto this passage is the main aial stone fireplace in the central hall bay built against the front wall. This has a large oak firebeam, with chamfered front arris and cut stops, one altered. Within, a recessed seat in the front wall, and a modern brick flue from the cellar. Various peg holes for crane etc. The room has a spine beam with deep chamfers and cup and scoop stops, but on the front side only at the fireplace end. A modern insubstantial wall separates off the parlour at the east end with a gable stack. This room has a spine beam with arris beads, probably 18th century, a date when the room was refurbished. The rear wall has been opened up to a lobby, leading to No 2 High Street.
The datestone of 1744 probably referst to the refronting of the building and perhaps by a member of the Linnell or Lovell familie, long established in the village.
