Full Description
{1} "TH 1732" carved on panel under eaves. Ironstone ashlar, Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys and attics. 2 sash and 2 casement windows, all with glazing bars under wood lintels. 2 gabled C19 dormers. 2 shop windows, 1 C19, 1 early C19 recessed with segmental bow and glazing bars. Nos 24, 26 and 30 form a group.
{3} Building survey of Nos. 28 and 30 prior to renovation and modernisation. A one and a half storey house originally occupied the site of Nos. 26 and 28. The east bay was lost when No 26 was built in 1899 [actually 1890], but the dated panel, 1688 in the west gable of the house is visible from within No 30. The north and south walls survive in part with later inserted features. There is an original window embrasure, blocked, at the rear of the central bay, initially reduced in width prior to its complete blocking in 1890. The existing original window embrasure on the frontage has a later window frame, panelling and seat. A two-bay addition to the west end of the house was of the same height; the form suggests it was a cart-shed and stable with a loft accessed via an external stair. In 1732 the walls of the cart-shed were raised creating a two and a half storey building. A brick building was erected to the north of the house in the 19th century.
