Summary

Full Description
{1} House, formerly a vicarage. Late C17, with early C19 and 1861 additions and alterations. Coursed and squared ironstone with limestone dressings, stone slate and Welsh slate roofs. 3 coped stone gable stacks, brick side wall stack. 2 storeys plus attics, 5 unequal bays, L-plan. North side has hipped addition in the return angle with a gabled glazed wooden porch, 1861, with a large pendant lamp. To its left, a glazed lean-to corridor. Above, a C19 cross casement. Beyond, to right, setback early C19 addition with a glazing bar sash and above, a plain sash. West front has 2 C19 cross casements on each floor and above again, 2 hipped dormers with 2-light leaded casements. South side has a 4-bay main block with an off-centre C19 door and overlight, and three 6/6 sashes. Above, 4 C19 plain sashes. Above again, 2 flat roofed dormers with 2-light casements. To left, early C19 2-storey hipped addition with tripartite sash and above, a plain sash. All these sashes have keystoned flat arches. East side has a full width 2-storey addition with three 3-light leaded casements. Interior has the upper stage of late C17 oak stair, remodelled C19, with beaded square newels, barley sugar and wavy splat balusters. 1861 Gothic main stair. Chamfered spine beams with stops. Single-butt-purlin principal rafter roof. Study to south east has restored C17 wainscotting. South east bedroom has C18 framed and moulded panelling. Arched brick cellars contain mid C19 hot air central heating stove. Other rooms have three 2-panel C18 doors and 2 doors made from C17 oak panelling.
