Full Description

{1} Farmhouse, now a house. c1680 and c1700, with early and mid C19 alterations. Reroofed and altered, 1914. Coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings and Welsh slate roofs. Coped gables with kneelers. 2 gable and single off-centre ridge coped stone stacks. 2 storeys, 4 bays, T-plan. South side has to left a 3-bay front with C19 4-panel door and overlight, flanked by single 3-light mullioned and transomed wood casements. All these openings have keystoned flat arches. Above the door a 2-light wooden casement flanked by single 3-light casements like those below. All these have wooden lintels. The service end, to right, has a C19 4-panel beaded door flanked to right by an ovolo mullioned leaded casement with hood mould. Above it, a similar 3-light mullioned casement. Rear elevation has an almost central 2-storey gabled stair turret with a 3-light stone mullioned casement on each floor. To its left a mid C19 gabled wing with a gable stack and a 3-light stone mullioned casement with hood mould. Above, a 3-light wooden casement. Beyond, to the right, a lean-to toilet with a C18 2-panel door. Beyond, to the left, the service end has a 3-light stone mullioned leaded casement. The rear wing return angle has, above, a C18 2-light iron casement with leaded glazing. East gable has, above, 2 small square chamfered casements, that to left blocked. Interior has a semicircular staircase c 1814, with stick balusters, scrolled mahogany handrail and cast iron vase and stem newels. Chamfered spine beams with stops. 2 C18 2-panel fielded doors.
