Full Description

{1} School and attached wall. 1849, altered and extended. Coursed limestone rubble with Collyweston stone slate roof with coped gables on shaped kneelers. 2 iron ridge ventilators to main block and one to each rear wing, moulded stone ridge stack to rear wing (and a later, rendered lateral stack). One storey symmetrical composition with a window of 3 cusped lights (echoing clerestory of church) and one of 2 cusped lights to either side. The original central gabled porch with twin entrances has been removed and replaced by a C20 door with overlight and a flat-topped dormer to left of centre above. Right gable end (to street) has 2 buttresses, a large square-headed window (modified C20) and an oculus above. Original porch to rear wing, seemingly pressed into right side of gable end, has coped gable and plain board door with decorative hinges and arched head with hood mould. Original rear wing has 2 windows each of 2 cusped lights and gable end similar to that of main block. Rendered addition with hipped roof embraces in angle, low rendered flat roofed addition to rear. Playground wall, of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, has plinth and shaped coping. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
