Full Description

{1} Lodges and gateway. Early C19. Lodges of ironstone ashlar with limestone dressings, slate roofs, hipped to rear and moulded stone ridge and end stacks. Gatepiers of limestone ashlar with iron gates and railings. Gothic Revival. Pair of identical one-storey lodges, each 3 x 3 bays, divided by pilasters. Elevations to drive each have central recessed entrance, with plain board door, in arch of 5 orders each carried on a column. 2-light sash windows with arched heads to each light, hood-moulds and leaded glazing, to either side. Gothic frieze corner pinnacles and full-width pediment with central traceried roundel flanked by taller pinnacles. Street elevations have similar wiiwndow of one light, 2-lights and one light in each case. 4 Gothic-traceried gatepiers, the outer 2 with plain caps (perhaps replacements?), the inner 2 with traceried cove and caps with crockets and finials. Gates plain, with dog bars. Interiors not inspected.
