Full Description

{1} C18. 2 storeys and attics in painted coursed stone. 2 gabled dormers. 2 windows, hung sashes with glazinb bars; 1 window on ground floor. Door of 6 panels. Yard door. Early C19 extension of 2 storeys with 2 windows on 1st floor and 1 on ground floor. Small shop front. Plain door. Plinth. Nos 1 to 4 (consec) form a group.

{3} Public house 'The Angel' on St Osyth's Lane. Not shown on early maps as public house, but shown on 2nd edition OS as 'smithy'. The 'Angel' is a listed building.

{4} A Level 2 building recording survey was undertaken prior to alterations for use as a funeral home. The level of alteration and continuous small-scale development, as well as the stripping-out of the building on its conversion to a public house, has removed extensive historic fabric. However, despite this it is clear that the south range and north range originated as two separate structures with their own rear ranges and yard via an alleyway between them, now blocked.

{5} Undated photo of No. 4, also undated photo of The Angel;
