Full Description

{1} C18th. 2 storeys in coursed rubble with stone slate roof. 2 hipped dormers break eaves. 2 windows, wood lintels, 1 lintel continues over plain door. Plain doors. No 2 has small window over door. 2 brick stacks. To left, storage premises with 3 windows, 1 a hoist door, on 1st floor and 1 window on ground floor and carriage entry under wood lintel.

{3}Plans, elevations and photographs. Lower class domestic dwelling of locally sourced materials. Present layout shows little overall change from their original design. The outbuilding is a later addition and is relatively poorly constructed; likely to have been used for stabling and possibly cart storage. Fodder would have been stored on the upper floor. Cottage 1 has been modified on its northern elevation- not originally an external wall, indicating there was a continuation of the building to the north; possibly a lean-to type structure.

Pegged oak-frame roof to both dwellings.

{5} Undated photo;
