Summary

A house that was built in 1834 and extended during the mid 19th century is situated on the northern side of Stamford Road. The house was built of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with brick chimney stacks at the gable ends. The main facade has a three window range of sashes under gauged stone heads to the upper floor with two similar windows on the ground floor that flank a central wooden porch with decorative bargeboards. A datestone with the inscription G/WA/1834 is situated to the centre left of the upper floor. Originally the house was two rooms, shortly after the original building, a range was added behind the kitchen and later in the century the building was made square.

Full Description

{1} House. Datestone G/WA/1834 for William and Anne Goodwin. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 2-unit plan with extensions to rear. 2 storeys. 3-window range of 6-paned sash windows under gauged stone heads. Central, 6-panel, door under similar head has later C19 wooden gabled hood. Stone stacks at ends. Datestone to left of centre. Mid C19 extension to rear. Interior not inspected but staircase noted as rising between walls.
