Summary
Remains of a churchyard cross located in St Leonard's churchyard, south east of the church porch. The cross is medieval in date, its architectural style suggesting a 14th century date. The base of the cross takes the form of an ironstone plinth and a socket stone with chamfered and decorated corners. A portion of the shaft is mortised into the socket stone. The shaft, which is bonded with lead, has vertical grooving but is otherwise undecorated. The cross is Scheduled and Listed Grade II.

Full Description
{1} Church yard cross. Probably C14. Limestone ashlar. Square socket with chamfered corners and roll moulded angles. Remains of square shaft with similar mouldings.
{4} Socket stone of medieval churchyard cross; 0.65m. Square x 0.2m high; decorated chamfered corners; in situ; part of shaft 1.3m high x 0.15m square with vertical grooving & foliage pattern of C14th has been used as step in west doorway of church tower.

{9} TL 0249295684. The remains of the churchyard cross in situ consists of the socket stone which measures 0.65m square by 0.2m high with decorated corners. The shaft 1.3m high and 1.15m square, has vertical grooving without decoration. The portion of the shaft within the tower is as described by Authority {5}. Surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD and AM.
