Summary

A late 17th to early 18th century farmhouse. Altered circa 1900 and used as a public house named The Hare and Hounds for a time. Now a dwelling.

Full Description

{1} Farmhouse. Late C17/early C18 and C19. Regular coursed limestone and lias with thatch and pantile roofs. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. 4-window range of C19 casement under wood lintels. Ribbed door, to left, with rectangular fanlight, is also under wood lintel. Shallow buttress with ashlar coping to left corner. Brick stacks at ridge and end. Rear elevation is similar with a 2-light stone mullion window to cellar, and leaded casement to first floor right. C19 single-storey extension, to lef , has pantile roof. Interior: room to left of entrance has open fireplace with bressumer. Entrance hall has arch-head wall cupboard with panelled doors and reeded pilasters. 2 winder stairs. Tie beams visible at first floor. Formerly used as the Hare and Hounds Public House.

{3} Willow Brook Farm formerly the Hare and Hounds Inn. Two storeys, 17th or 18th century, perhaps originally class 5 later extended to east. On the south is a walled garden, formerly the village pound, but with the north wall removed.
