Summary

An early 18th century house with a former 19th century shop located on the southern side of Bridge Street. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with ashlar gable and ridge chimney stacks and parapets. The house is two stories high with a three window street facade of leaded casements to the first floor under wooden lintels. On the ground floor is a door to the left which is flanked by two flat roofed canted bay windows with a similar arrangement to the right.

Full Description

{1} House. Early C18 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with painted façade and Collyweston slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range of leaded casements to first floor under eaves and wood lintels. 2, early C19, canted bay windows with flat roofs, to centre and left. C19 canted shop window, with central part-glazed door, to right. 6-panel door, to left of centre, under wood lintel. Ashlar gable parapet to right and stone stacks at ridge and end. Dr. Law's Chapel (q.v.) is attached at right angles to rear. Interior not inspected. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p96)
