Summary
A single and two story house with medieval origins located on the northern side of Church Street. The building has a cross wing constructed during the 17th century but the building is mainly 18th century with alterations made in 1848 to 1852. The building may have originally been a hall house but now has an L-shaped plan. The building is constructed of coursed limestone with a Collyweston Slate roof.

Full Description
{1} House. Medieval origins, C18 and 1848/52 by Bryan Browning of Stamford for Burghley House estate. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston roof. Originally probably a hall house, now L-shape plan. Part single storey, with attic, and part 2 storeys. Main front of 3 bays, with cross-wing breaking forward to right. Cross wing is C17 with medieval fragments. Tripartite sash to first floor of gable end, under shallow stone arch, and C20 French doors to ground floor, all with glazing bars. 2-window ange of casements, under wood lintels, to return wall of cross-wing. Bays to centre and right are mid C19, with differing eaves levels to cross-wing. Centre bay has one-window range of tripartite sash windows, with glazing bars, under stone lintels. First floor window is under half dormer with hipped roof. Bay to right breaks forward with gable over and has tall arch-head stair window. Lean-to porch, to right of this bay, has arch-head doorway and part-glazed door. Stone and ashlar stacks at nds. Rear elevation, to garden, has central canted bay window with sashes. Some sash windows restored and renewed C20. Interior: some mid C19 fittings remain. Reset octagonal medieval post in kitchen, with bracket.
