Summary

A house with attached outbuildings that were originally two houses was built during the 17th century and is situated on the southern side of the High Street. The house is constructed of squared coursed limestone with double pitch Collyweston slate roofs with brick and stone chimney stacks. The house is single story with an attic and the former house now outbuilding has two stories. Several 19th century alterations have been made to the house.

Full Description

{1} House. C17 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally one-unit plan, now T-shape. Single storey part with attic, and 2 storeys. Elevation to High Street has one-window range, with C19 casement under wood lintel. C19 single-storey extension, attached at right angles to right, has similar window in return wall. Rebuilt brick stack at end. Elevation to left is 2 storeys; 2-window range of C19 casements under shallow stone arches. C20 door, to right, is under similar ead. Outbuildings attached to left of this elevation were originally another dwelling. 3-window range of C19 style casements under wood and concrete lintels. 2 plank doors between windows. Cart entrance to far left. Interior: room abutting High Street was the original one-unit house and has open fireplace with bressumer. Several early C19 six-panel doors. Outbuilding said to contain a fireplace with enriched surround.

{1, 5} The site of a T shaped house with attached outbuildings built during the 17th century. The house is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a Collyweston Slate roof. Its is single story with an attic with two stories to the left elevation. Several 19th century alterations have been made to the house. The building is Listed at Grade II.
