Summary

This site includes a house with a forge that is located on the southern side of the High Street. The house is believed to have been constructed during the 17th century with 18th and 19th century additions and restorations during the 20th century. The building is constructed of regular coursed limestone and lias with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with a central ridge and gable chimney stacks. It is single story with an attic range lit by three gabled roof dormer windows. The street facade has an irregular range of casement windows and a central entrance doorway with a lean to extension on the left and a gabled extension on the far right.

Full Description

{1} House and forge, now 2 dwellings. C17 and C18/C19 restored C20. Regular coursed limestone and lias with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. Single storey with attic. Irregular 3-window range of C20 casements under wood lintels. Central fire window has chamfered stone surround. 3 gabled eaves dormers, to attic, have C20 casements. Central C20 door under concrete lintel. C18/C19 lean-to extension to left and gabled extension to right. This has a stable door in the return wall. C20 door in return wall of lean-to. Large central stone stack and brick and stone stacks at ends. Interior not inspected but noted as having remains of open fireplace.

{1, 5} This site includes a house with a forge that is located on the southern side of the High Street that is constructed of coursed limestone with a double pitched Collyweston slate roof. The house is single story with an attic which has three gabled roof dormers. The windows have woodern lintels and the building has a gabled extention to the right and a lean too on the left side. The house is believed to have been constructed during the 17th century with 18th and 19th century alterations. The building was restored during the 20th century and is Listed at Grade II.
