Summary

A 17th century house located on the southern side of the High Street at its junction with Porters Lane. The building is constructed of regular coursed limestone and lias with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with stone chimney stacks on the ridge and at the gable ends. The north facing elevation is of three bays with a fourth added to the right in the late 17th century. The elevation has four, two light casement windows to the first floor, above two similar three light casements that flank a door to the centre left. A small two light casement window is under a long wooden lintel on the extension on the right. The house was altered during the early 19th century.

Full Description

{1} Farmhouse now house. C17 and early C19. Regular coursed limestone and lias with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 2-unit plan, now 3 units. 2 storeys. 4-window range of casements with glazing bars under wood lintels. C20 door, to left of centre, is also under a wood lintel. Partly rebuilt stone stacks at ridge and end. Bay to right is separated from main range by a straight joint and was added late C17. Rear elevation has some C20 dormer windows. Interior: rooms to left and right of entrance ha e open fireplaces with bressumers, the fireplace in the right hand room was probably added. Early C19 staircase with stick balustrade. Early C19 corner cupboards in hall and room to right.
