Building record 2830/1/1 - Huskisson's Lodge (former West Lodge of Kingscliffe Park)

Summary
A 17th century farmhouse with 18th and early 19th century additions located on the eastern side of Stamford Road. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with double pitch Collyweston slate and asbestos tile roofs with brick and ashlar end and ridge chimney stacks. It is two storeys high with an irregular three window range of casements under wooden lintels. A two story, one window range is attached to the left.

Full Description
{1} Farmhouse. C17 origins and C19. Squared coursed limestone with asbestos tile and Collyweston slate roofs. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. Irregular, 3-window range of C19 casements, under wood lintels. Window to ground floor right is under a shallow stone arch. Plank door, to right of centre, is also under wood lintel. Large quoins, ashlar gable parapets and brick and stone stacks at ridge and end. 2-storey one-window range, attached to left, is similar and has Collyweston slate roof. C19 casement windows and panelled door, under wood lintel. C19 single-storey extensions to far left and to rear. One C19 leaded casement to rear. Interior not inspected.
{6} Two storeys, formerly with a cellar. C17th with early C19th and later additions at end and rear. The original three-cell house was possibly of class 2 plan.

{8} In 1600 there were three lodges in the park; Huskisson's Lodge at TL01359780 still exists, but nothing remains of the others.
