Full Description

{1} House. C17 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. Originally 3-unit plan. Single-storey with attic. 4-window range has 2 horizontal sliding sash windows, with glazing bars, to left, and 2 C20 windows, to right; all under wood lintels. 2 plank doors, also under wood lintels, between window ranges; one has C20 porch. 2 eyebrow dormers, with horizontal sliding sash windows similar to ground floor. Ashlar gable parapets and rebuilt stone stacks. C19 lean-to extension to rear. Interio not inspected but noted as having remains of open fireplaces. Probably converted into two dwellings C19 by Apethorpe Hall estate. The name Halefield is derived from the deserted medieval village of Hale.
