Summary

An 17th and 18th century house with minor 20th century modifications is located on the southern side of Main Street at right angles to the street. The house is constructed of regular and coursed limestone with double pitch Collyweston slate roofs with brick chimney stacks on the ridge. The building is single story with an attic range lit by two hipped eaves dormer windows, and two storeys at the rear. The main facade has a four window range of irregular casements under timber lintels with an entrance porch to the centre with a wooden porch and a second door on the right.

Full Description

{1} House. C17 and C18. Regular coursed and squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally probably 3-unit plan at right angles to the road. Part single storey with attic and part 2 storeys. 4-window range, of irregularly spaced casements, under wood lintels. 2 hipped eaves dormers to right. Part-glazed door, with C20 porch, to centre and C20 door to right, under wood lintels. Bay to far right is set back and was probably a later build. Brick stacks at ridge. Bay to left, abutting road, removed mid C20. Interior: room to right of entrance has remains of an open fireplace with bressumer. Room to left of entrance and kitchen to far right have C18 fielded panelled dados. Kitchen has exposed ceiling joists, laid horizontally.
