Summary

A 17th century house that was altered during the 18th and 19th centuries is located on the southern side of Main Street. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch thatch roof with a brick ridge chimney stack to the right of centre. The street facade has an irregular range of casement windows under wooden lintels with a single three light stone mullion window to the right of centre. A plank door is on the far left and there are double doors to the centre right and a shop door to the far right. The gable to the right has a two light sash window that lights an attic range. The building was converted to a house, shop and post office during the 19th century.

Full Description

{1} House, now house and shop. C17 origins, altered C18 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. Originally 3-unit plan. Single storey with attic. Irregular 4-window range of C19 casements under wood lintels, with one 3-light stone mullion window to right of centre. Plank door to left, C19 part-glazed double doors to right of centre, and part-glazed shop door to far right; all under wood lintels. Central C20 brick stack. C19 sash window in right gable. Interior has ceiling beams and prob bly has remains of open fireplace. Noted as having a raised cruck with later roof structure.
