Full Description

{1} Base of churchyard cross. Medieval. Limestone ashlar. Octagonal socket with mouldings at corners, set on square base. Included for group value.

{3} TL 0766 9102: The socket of a churchyard cross is in the north east part of the churchyard. In form it closely resembles that at Stoke Doyle (TL 08 NW 7).

{5} Undated photo;

{6} The socket is situated at SP 0776 9101. See photograph.

{7} On a visit 4th April 1997 clearance had been carried out in the churchyard and the cross was no longer at its location given by the SMR. A search revealed a small socket stone close to the eastern boundary wall, just south of the north gate.

Since only the socket stone remains, and it is not in its original loaction it does not fulfil the requirments for scheduling.
