Full Description

{1} Kings Arms Public House, High Street. Building shown as public house on map of 1900. The pub is now out of use and in a very poor, dilapidated condition. The building has been rendered to the frontage. Film ? Photo 25. To the rear of the building is a linear barn like structure which was at one time part of the public house. It is now being converted to flats. The structure is of two storeys and constructed of stone. May have been used as a barn, stabling or possible row of cottages. Film ? Photo 24, 26 Film 1, photo 4.

{2} Inspection of Kings Arms, Thrapston. The principle structure remains in good condition although the associated outbuildings are beginning to deteriorate. The side passage entrance to the property is medieval in form and perhaps suggests that the 18th / 19th century building perhaps stands on the footprint of an earlier building. The building contains its original early 19th century roof structure and original windows and Victorian fireplaces.

{3} Public house. Mid C18 and C19, with datestone 1839. Squared coursed limestone and brick with stucco façade; and slate roof. Originally probably 2-unit plan. 2 storeys with attic; 4-window range. Unhorned sash windows of differing sizes all with glazing bars and under plain stucco heads. 6-panel double doors to far left under flat wooden hood . C20 door to right hand corner has C19 moulded corner detail above. Ashlar gable parapet and kneelers to right. 2 flat-topped roof dormers with casement wi dows. Lateral ashlar stack to centre and brick stack at end. C19 brick extensions to rear and 2-storey stone extension to rear, formerly part stables. Datestone 1839 is to centre of this range. 4-window range at first floor of unhorned sash windows with glazing bars. Interior remodelled C20. Included for group value.

{4} Public House. Mid 18th century and 19th century. The later has datestone 1839. Originally probably 2-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic. 4 window range. 19th century brick extensions to rear. And 2 storey stone extension to rear (formerly part stables). Part stables behind public house. Datestone 1839. These take the form of "extensions"to rear of the 18th century main building.
