Full Description

School and attached house, now village hall and house. Founded 1717/25 by Sir John and Lady Germaine altered mid C19. Regular coursed limestone with Colleyweston slate roof. House and school form an L-shape range. Single-storey school and 2-storey house. Main front of 3-window range. 2-window range to right is former school with C19 three-light stone mullion windows. One-window range to left is house with casements and wood lintels. 2-panel door to left of centre has C18 moulded stone surround w th a plain entablature and cornice. Central stone stack, top rebuilt in brick. Large armorial device over door. Elevation to Main Road, to left, is a 3-window range with a gable to right and 2 gabled eaves dormers to left. Large stone stack at ridge to right. C19 extension to rear of former school. Interior not inspected. Formerly known as the Greencoat School. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, p.297).
