{3} The timeline of construction seems to be as follows:
Phase 1: Late C16th - early C17th. A stone building of an unknown number of bays, 1-1.5 storeys high, with an axial fireplace in a ?open hall. This building was doubtlessly roofed with thatch and may have been crick framed.
Phase 2: 17th century.. The building was re-roofed following a fire and extended through to the west
Phase 3: Later 17th century. The original open central (hall) bay was floored over provided with a stone stack, and an upper floor added, raising it to 2 storeys. Probably at this time a western 2-storey service bay added
Phase 4: A rear limestone outshut added over the centre and west bays
Phase 5: The roof othe outshut was raised to almost the eaves level, to provide a loft
Phase 6: The supposed east bay was rebuilt. Perhaps as a separate dwelling or dower cottage, stone and thatched
Phase 7: Early-mid C19th. Part of the rear outshut was rebuilt as a 2-storey structure in brick, with a parallel roof, providing an additional bedroom
Phase 8: c.1918-20, the eastern cottage was demolished for a cinema, and perhaps at this stage the whole roof re-clad with the asbestos slates.
