Building record 485/3/2 - Marston Trussell Hall, Gatepiers & Gates c.20m South of Main Front

Please read our .

Summary

The gatepiers and gates to Marston Trussell Hall approximately 20 metres south of main front. The gates were moved to this site in the 18th century from Church Brampton where they probably formed the entrance to Manor Farm. The main carriage gates are of wrought-iron construction, flanked by a matching pair of limestone piers capped with urn terminals. Spanning between the pillars is a wrought-iron overthrow supporting a heraldic shield. The gates also have a matching pair of cast iron pedestrian side gates which are attached to the outer edge of the carriage entrance stone piers. These close against an outer pair of brick piers which also have urn terminals. The gates were erected after 1691.
