Full Description

{1} Shown on O.S. map as Nos. 121-125. House and attached cottage. House dated 1681 and 1697. Coursed squared ironstone, thatch roof, brick end and ridge stacks. 2 storeys and attic; 6-window range. No. 123 has 4-unit lobby entry and 4-panel part-glazed door to right of centre in elaborate early C19 cast iron porch with ogee lead roof and datestone above inscribed G/TM/1697; small rectangular first floor window above. 3-light casement windows to ground and first floors. All windows have timber lintels. Between two windows left of door, another inserted C20 door. Stone coped gable to right end with large buttress to gable end and datestone inscribed 1681/G/TM. Masonry to right end bay of coursed rubble with bands of squared stone. Left end bay is also an addition with finer squared stone to left of straight joint. Canted projection to rear now used as store originally a stair turret and has small square windows with stop-chamfered stone lintels. No. 121, probably also late C17, has 2-unit plan and resembles a cross wing with gable end to street but almost certainly originally detached. Partially rendered with brick gable, C20 windows and small roof dormer. Interior: No. 123 has stop-chamfered spine beams and open fireplace with stop-chamfered bressumer. No. 121 has ogee stop-chamfered spine beams and open fireplace with cambered stop-chamfered bressumer.
