Full Description

{1} Gates and gatepiers. Early C18. Dressed ironstone. Gatepiers have moulded stone plinths and cornices, plain sides and support stone suits of armour on square bases with panelled sides upheld by splayed feet. C19 iron double-leaf gates with spear finials. These gates formerly gave access to the short formal drive which led through the park into the Green Court and to the entrance of Canons Ashby house (q.v.). (Canons Ashby gardens and park are included in the H.B.M.C. Register of Gardens at Grade II*.)
