Full Description
{1} House. C17 with C19 alterations. Coursed ironstone rubble, slate roofs, brick ridge and end stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic. Front to forecourt has canted brick bay window with hipped slate roof, flanked by C20 doors, that to left with gabled hood, that to right, in angle, with straight hood. 3-light casement window to far left with timber lintel. Straight joint above left door. First floor has 2-light casement window to left with timber lintel and 3-light casement to right replacing mullions with moulded stone surround and dropped sill. Small roof dormer. Left angle chamfered. Stone coped gables with kneelers. Lower 2-storey projecting wing to right has 2-light casement windows and central first door approached by external staircase with iron handrail rising from left by small one-light ground floor window. Windows and door have timber lintels. Rear of main range has row of four small early C19 single-storey canted bay windows with hipped slate roofs and small-paned casement windows, 2-light to front and one-light to sides. Four 2-light casement windows to first floor, one with timber lintel, rest with moulded stone surrounds, dropped sills and hood moulds. Interior has some stop-chamfered spine beams. Formerly the Rose and Crown Inn.
