Full Description

{1} Country house. Mid C18, altered and extended C19. Red brick, Flemish bond, flared headers and ashlar. Plain-tile roof. Brick ridge and end stacks with paired and linked flues. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range of 15-pane unhorned sashes. Gauged brick lintels and stone sills. To centre right early C19 Doric entrance porch with entablature. Part-glazed door and overlight within. Gables to left and right have arched windows. Further one-light on right gable. Stone plinth, rusticated quoins, moulded cornice and stone coped gables with kneelers. Garden front to right, of ashlar, has central canted bay with further sashes and ground-floor French window. To either side on both floors a Venetian window. Triple keystones to all windows and rusticated quoins to bay angles. Three C19 gables, the centre with further sash and a pierced stone balustrade in front over canted bay. Further sashes to right and rear. Interior: C18 oak staircase, originally from Moot Hall in Daventry. Three turned and fluted balusters per tread. 6-panelled doors. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, 1973, p.457).
