Summary

Congregational chapel. 1792, gallery added 1808. Limestone ashlar with Colleyweston slate roof. Single-unit chapel with vestibule and gallery. Central arch-head window with keystone and renewed Gothic glazing bars flanked by 2 similar arch-head door openings, one now blocked. Ashlar gable parapets with truncated stack at end.

Full Description

{1} Congregational chapel. 1792, gallery added 1808. Limestone ashlar with Collyweston slate roof. Single-unit chapel with vestibule and gallery. Central arch-head window with keystone and renewed Gothic glazing bars flanked by 2 similar arch-head door openings, one now blocked. Ashlar gable parapets with truncated stack at end. Right gable has similar arch-head window. Right gable has 2 square-head windows. Mid C19th single storey school room and vestry in similar style is attached to left. Interior has panelled gallery front and monument to John Phillips, died 1837, is casket shaped marble tablet.

{3} Meetings held from 1706 in the house of Edward Nutt were transferred c1736-8 to a small barn on the present site, which had been converted to a meeting-house. This was replaced in 1792 by the existing chapel which was enlarged in 1808 by the addition of a gallery.
