Full Description

{1} Gatepier. Probably early C18. Limestone. Panelled pier, moulded plinth and cornice. Ball finial. One of a pair at East entrance to Castle Ashby Park by East or Nevitt's Lodge (q.v.). Said to be from Easton Maudit House.

{3} Three lodges stand at the end of drives across Castle Ashby park. On its south-east boundary, above Park Pond, is Nevitt’s Lodge (listed grade II), an early C19, two-storey, gothick thatched cottage with a rustick-work porch at the gable end. This adjoins a pair of tall, probably early C18, limestone gate piers (listed grade II), which stand at the end of the trees which represent the broken line of the east avenue.
