Full Description

{1} Laundry and brewhouse, now offices. Late C17/early C18 with many later alterations. Coursed limestone rubble, pantile roof, stone end and ridge stacks. 2-storey, 6-window range. C20 door to right of centre with wood lintel, panelled door to far right with moulded stone surround. Irregular fenestration of 2- and 3-light windows and one large 16-pane sash window to ground floor left of centre. Signs of at least 6 blocked windows to 1st floor. Ironstone quoins to left angle and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Signs of a blocked door to left of centre, with a wood lintel remaining. Single-storey extension to rear. An estate map of 1760 shows that it was formerly joined to stable block (q.v.) by range, now demolished, running behind present Estate Office (q.v.) and part of a formal composition facing west range of Castle Ashby (q.v.).
