Summary

A two bay timber-framed cottage with a half hipped thatched roof. A 17th century timber framed house on a stone base. Altered during the 18th and 19th centuries and with a 20th century extension to the rear.

Full Description

{1} Cottage. Probably late C16/early C17 with C18 and C19 alterations. Timber-framed on stone base, brick and limestone rubble infill, thatch roof, brick end stacks. 1 storey and attic; 2-window range. 2-unit plan. Gable end faces street and has brick infill, 2-light casement window to ground floor and similar casement to attic. Roof is half-hipped to this end. C20 door and 2-light casement windows to ground floor on right side elevation. Similar casements and C20 extension to rear. Interior not inspected.

{3} Brief analysis and plan. Also included is a brief report by the Domestic Buildings Research Group undertaken in 1981.
