Full Description

{1} House, formerly farmhouse. C17 extended C19. Coursed limestone rubble, slate roofs, brick end and ridge stacks. 2-storey, 1-window C17 range to right, lower 2-storey, 2-window early/mid C19 range to left. 3-unit plan. Older range has 3-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window to ground floor and 3-light casement window above with wood lintel. C19 range has central gabled porch with 6-panel door in pilastered wood surround with cornice hood and 3-light casement windows with wood lintels. Overhanging eaves. Interior has chamfered spine beam and open fireplace with moulded bressumer.

{3} The earliest phase, a 3-bay building at the east-end, appears to have been a timber framed structure between stone gable walls, comprising a heated living-kitchen at the east, with axial stack backing onto a narrower entry bay, and parlour at the west end. The farm buildings lie at the east end. To this a 2-storey and atticparlour block in stone, with a thatched roof, was added beyond the existing parlour in the mid-late 17th century. Possibly still in the 17th century the timber framing was stoned around and the older structure raised to 2 storeys. In course of time the thatched roofs were replaced with slate, raising the walls further. A porch was added in the 19th century over the original entrance position; plans;
