Full Description

{1} Cottage. C18 altered C20. Coursed limestone rubble, thatch roof, brick end stacks. 2-unit plan. 2-storey, 2-window range. Central C20 door with wood lintel. 2-light casement windows to ground and 1st floors, the latter in eyebrow dormers and all with wood lintels. Single-storey rendered extension to right with lean-to roof. Old one-storey-and-attic, 2-window extension to left with thatched roof and similar 2-light casements with wood lintels to ground floor. Interior noted as having spine beams and open fireplace with chamfered bressumer.

{3} Analysis & plan. The westernmost bay of this house with its chimney-stack is clearly depicted on the 1727 map of Potterspury {4} and dates from the 17th century. Around the middle of the 18th century, a two-bay extension was added to the east, after which there were no further structural changes until the 20th century.
