Full Description

{1} Farmhouse. Early C18. Coursed limestone rubble, plain tile roof, brick end and internal stacks. 2 storeys and attic; 6-window range. 3-unit plan. 6-panel door to right of centre with fanlight and moulded wood surrounds with panelled pilasters supporting console brackets and open pediment. 12-pane sash windows to ground and 1st floors, those to ground floor with stone lintels, those to 1st with wood lintels. Two hipped dormer windows.

{3} This house was remodelled and enlarged at some point. In 1772 it was owned by Hannah, the widow of Charles Clarke, and one of the two sisters of Stephen Gurden, and at that time had attached to it only 42 acres of land, but within a score or so of years was to become the centre of the largest estate in the village.

{4} The building appears to be 17th century in origin, probably late in the century, and was refronted and remodelled internally in the 18th century. The indications are that this is the rear wing wing of a substantial 17th century or early 18th century farmhouse; plan;

{5} Undated photo, also photo dated 16.07.1992;
