{3} The dovecote was erected by Sir Robert Banastre, Comptroller of the Royal Household to James I from 1626. The work had apparently been completed by the time of his death in 1646. It is built of local oolite limestone rubble, roughly coursed, with a plain tiled pitched roof. It is precisely 6.9m square on plan, with walls 0.5m thich plus a bonded inner lining of 0.45m containing the nest boxes. The interior was converted in the 19th century for unspecified use connected to the Rectory.
