Building record 130/0/96 - No.11 Market Place (Red Lion Hotel)

A modern (1923) boxed out ironstone ground floor bar front on a 2 storeyd roughcast rubble house of probably C17 date. Stone slate roof with 2 gabled attic dormers. Rebuilt stone based stack, on north gable end, with a modern brick shaft. Late C18 sash windows on first floor. At back is a 2-storeyed rubble wing with Welsh slate roof and modern sash windows. To east of this is a modern 2-storeyed whitewashed brick addition.

{3} Red Lion Public House, High Street
Building shown as The Red Lion Inn on Ordnance Survey maps of 1885 and 1922 is still in use as a public house of the same name today. The pub has a complex of outbuildings to the rear including stabling. (1)
Friendly or Benefit Society established 1772, had detailed rule book by 1773. Met in the rooms of the Red Lion Inn, Brackley.
